Well the night was a great success, myself and David managed to eat the lot!

Without a doubt it was a lot harder than I expected and never again will I watch a Rythre Monster plate return to the kitchen two thirds finished and secretly think light-weight. Ron and Matt Collins did really well although left a little, 1lb 14oz and 12oz respectively. Some pics here

The quiz went really well too but walking between the restaurants and shouting the questions is a lot easier when you don’t have half a cows backside in your tummy.

Thanks to all those who sponsored us, the money is still coming in but so far I think we will have raised more than a thousand pounds for the fantastic St Leonard’s Hospice in York.

Up date coming soon, Thanks again!!!

Well, I’ve bitten the bullet and set the date. Tuesday 1st of March, myself and three more will be trying to eat the 78oz Rythre Monster in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice in York.

There are a few ways in which you can help:

Visit our Facebook Page to see whats happening and Like us!! It helps to spread the word.

Come along on the evening where there will be a raffle for a Rythre Rib of Beef, a food based quiz from 9pm and the entertainment of watching four greedy men do their worst. Or, ask over the bar for Tony, Lisa or Barbara and we will give you a sponsor form to complete. Or, follow this link to our Just Giving page and be as generous as you can!

Time is running out to book that table and earn them Brownie points this Valentines.

If you are coming though, be sure to order the Chateaubriand. 20oz. of Rythre fillet steak, cooked to your liking and carved at the table.  Ordering the Chateaubriand will also entitle you to two glasses of the house champagne as you wait for your delicious meal to be cooked.

Sorry guy’s but we have had to increase our prices, this is not only due to the new VAT rate of 20% but also food prices are at an all time high and still rising.

Beef fillet, T-bone and sirloins are the worst hit. Rump is still the best value. Rest assured that we will not be cutting portions, will never compromise on the quality and if the prices drop, especially on the fillet we will do the same also.

It’s that time of year again and although we will be avoiding the turkey dinners we have decided to do something a little different for New Year. Here’s the menu with a rough idea. We are now taking bookings so what are you waiting for!

About time I know but it is worth it.

No change to the steaks or the prices but some really tasty and heart warming dishes to carry us through the winter months. The Cassoulet is a Rythre variation on the dish, omitting the sausage for extra mutton and the Rythre ribs are back and as good as ever.

Hit the tab above and have a look now!

Just thought I’d let you know (just once more) how grateful I am for the unparalleled superiority of your steaks, wine list and service at the Rythre Arms.

Having travelled extensively and eaten in fancy restaurants (some of them burdened by those stars given out by that French tyre-making company), I can honestly say that the Rythre is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Just last month I was able to fulfill a long-time ambition: to taste a hefty piece of the fabled Wagyu beef (Kobe beef). Let’s just say that the memory of that silky 380 gr Wagyu ribeye pales in comparison to the T-bones and ribeyes I’ve had at the Ryhthre.  Sure, it was an interesting texture experience, but nothing like the succulent meatiness of those flavourful Rythre steaks.

Just thought I’d let you know.

It’s coming soon so if you are booking more than a week or so in advance please keep looking for the new dishes (all steaks will still be available and most of the old dishes, don’t worry if yours has disappeared, mention on your booking and we will do it for you) Big brackets eh.

The Rythre's enjoy a delicious meal at The Rythre Arms! Here is a photo of the Ryther family we had the pleasure of serving a few weeks ago. From the right we have Sherry, Phyllis, Daniela and David.

On vacation from San Francisco they decided to include  a visit to Ryther where David had traced his name (easier than most!). We had a lovely night, served them too much food and made some new friends.

It was a pleasure to meet them and should ever the city life on the other side of the Atlantic become too much it would be an honour for Ryther to re-gain one of it’s son’s. And his family of course.
